WHAT HAPPENED
The Zcash Foundation published results from its Zcash Community Advisory Panel poll on outstanding Network Upgrade 7 scope questions. The poll ran from August 27 alongside a coinholder poll and followed earlier NU7 sentiment polling.
According to the Foundation, 135 of 198 eligible ZCAP members participated — a 68% response rate. Each of the five scope questions was answered separately, with abstention allowed on individual questions.
WHY IT MATTERS
Network upgrades are where protocol narratives become engineering decisions. NU7 is not simply another version number: its scope determines which changes move from discussion toward consensus, implementation and eventually the network itself.
The polling process also shows something easy to miss when markets get loud: Zcash governance is happening in public, with proposals, discussion and multiple forms of community signaling feeding into the upgrade process.
Price tells you what traders are doing now. Upgrade scope tells you what builders may be shipping next. If you want to understand a privacy network, watch the protocol before the candle.
WHAT TO WATCH
The next signal is how the polling results translate into final NU7 scope, ZIP work and implementation. Polling is input to the process — not the same thing as code activating on mainnet.
